Cause+Affect approached us to make this video for the Yukon Salmon Sub-Committee. The longest Chinook salmon run on the planet travels through the Yukon river, crucial to the river ecosystem, and also essential to the culture and economy on both sides of the US/Canadian border. Today, the salmon run is dwindling at an alarming rate. This video helps explain the factors that contribute to this crisis and to facilitate understanding of how to help.

We loved Cause+Affect’s initial cutout designs, and we wanted to continue this distinct and raw art direction to tell this story. We enhanced the designs wherever possible to bring out the essence of the cutout and print look. As this script was very long, keeping the visuals interesting and the story flowing was also essential. Through carefully timing this piece, and having interesting transitions throughout, we made sure to keep the viewer engaged and focused on this important issue.
